On Monday, negotiations between the Rajasthan government and the striking physicians at the demonstration against the Right to Health Bill came to nothing.

The six-person team of doctors, led by the Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes Society secretary, Dr. Vijay Kapoor, met with state government authorities to break the bills impasse and ensure that the public receives the proper medical care. Private physicians in the state request that the bill passed on March 28 be withdrawn by the state.

According to the new legislation, every state citizen would be entitled to emergency medical attention "without prepayment" at any "public health institution, health care establishment, and specified health care centers."

Dr. Kapoor stated that the state-wide complete medical bandh against the bill would continue for the 16th day on Monday. He revealed that various social organizations are supporting their protest and urging the government to accept the just demands of the doctors and end this impasse immediately.

He further noted that more than 218 private hospitals in Jaipur have given their written consent to discontinue government schemes. He added that all the private hospitals from the other 21 districts of the state have given written applications for mass de-empanelment of government schemes.
